DUBAI: When Hasan Ali – one of the most exciting bowlers in world cricket – was forced to miss the start of Pakistan Super League’s current season because of fitness issues, many thought that it would weaken Peshawar Zalmi.
It must have but in their game against Islamabad United on Saturday, a 33-year-old debutant made sure that Zalmi won’t miss the match-winning Hasan.Umaid Asif was playing his first PSL match but if he was overawed by the occasion he didn’t show it.
The pacer produced a stunning performance picking up four key Islamabad wickets to lead Peshawar to an emphatic win.Umaid was confident that he will continue to shine whenever he will get a chance.“I will continue to work hard and will give my best whenever I get a chance,” he said after his team’s win against Islamabad.
