LAHORE
A 30-year-old man died after taking spurious syrup in Shafiqabad on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Asif of Ameen Park, Bund Road, Shafiqabad.
It was reported that Asif had taken a heavy dose of the said syrup. As a result, his condition went critical. He was taken to a local hospital where he died. Police handed over the dead body to the family after completing the legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a woman died at a local hospital, a few hours after she was burnt in a fire in Shekihupura. The woman succumbed to burns at a local hospital a few hours after she was shifted to Lahore from Sheikhupura.
road accidents: At least 664 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which 10 lives were lost and 519 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 258 minor injured were provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to a data provided by the PMC, 281 drivers, 32 underage drivers, 123 pedestrians and 383 passengers were among injured persons.
The statistics show 138 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 136 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 76 RTAs in Faisalabad with 91 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 44 RTAs and 50 victims.
Details further show that total 787 persons were affected by the road traffic crashes including 634 males and 153 females, while the age group of the affected persons showed that 105 were under the 18 years of age, 482 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 200 injured people were reported above 40 years.
According to a data, 524 motorbikes, 88 auto rickshaws, 81 motorcars, 43 vans, seven passenger buses, 37 trucks and 85 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
booked: The City Traffic Police took action against 50 drivers during the current month of March on the charges of rash driving.
The CTO directed the SPs and DSPs to continue action against drivers on the said violation without any discrimination.
Drug pusher: Data Darbar police arrested a drug pusher and recovered over one kg charas from his possession.
The arrested drug pusher was identified as Saleem alias Taidi. DIG Operations has announced commendatory certificates for the police team.
