MARDAN: The alleged killer of two children was killed in an exchange of fire with the police in the limits of Katlang Police Station late Saturday night.
A statement issued from the office of the District Police said that acting on a tip-off a police party raided the house of Imran belonging to Katlang to arrest him.
It said that seeing the cops he started firing which led to an exchange of fire.
The police maintained that Imran was killed when the police returned the fire while his accomplices managed to escape.
It may be recalled that Imran had allegedly opened fire and killed two children identified as Arman, 3, and Bilal, 16.
The statement said that the accused was drunk at the time of the firing incident on February 21.
It said that five-year old Safina, resident of Katlang, had also sustained injuries in the firing.
A case was registered against the accused under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Two killed in Takht Bhai: Unidentified gunmen on Friday killed a young man in the jurisdiction of Saro Shah Police Station, police sources said.
They said the accused opened fire on one Ihsanuddin hailing from Bajaur Agency and killed him on the spot.
The reason behind the killing couldn’t be determined.
A case was registered against the accused at Saro Shah Police Station.
Meanwhile, a man died in a road accident at Seri Behlol in Takht Bhai.
The locals said that the man identified as Sajjad belonging to Upper Dir, was knocked down by a speeding passenger coaster (IDS 5264) when he was crossing the road. The police impounded the vehicle and registered the case.
