Islamabad: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has directed patients experiencing symptoms of pollen allergy to visit the Pulmonology OPD between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for medical examination and timely treatment.

Patients with severe symptoms have been directed to go straight to the hospital’s emergency, which is open round the clock.

Child patients should be taken to the Children’s OPD in case of mild symptoms, and the Children’s emergency in case of difficulty in respiration.

“Extra nebulizers have been installed ahead of the pollen allergy season,” the hospital’s spokesman Dr. Waseem Khawaja informed the media.

He said, now is the time for pollen allergy patients to start their preventive medication so that they remain protected from the severity of the annual affliction.

“Patients who start taking preventive medication experience only minor symptoms if they initiate treatment at least three weeks before the onset of the pollen allergy season,” Dr. Waseem informed.

He said, additional human resource has been deputed in the PIMS emergency to cater to the patient load during the allergy season.
