Rampant corruption
The founding fathers of Pakistan envisaged a country based on the principles of honesty, justice and fair play. It should be a mortifying moment for us Pakistanis that our homeland is today an epitome of corruption. The recent Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2017 released by Transparency International, has placed our country at 117 in a total of 180 states. Pakistan has score of 32 out of a total 100. The CPI defines corruption as the misuse of public power for private benefits.
One of the main causes that are keeping us from progressing forward and securing a high ranking among the comity of nations is this rampant corruption existing throughout the political and social hierarchies. The public sector needs to understand that it exists to serve the public not rob it of its due share. All Pakistanis need to come together to overcome this menace and not just text each other to say ‘no’ to corruption. Only then a Pakistan seen before its creation can materialise.
