Winter in Chitral

The NHA has closed the tunnel for goods transport in the winter. As a result, more than 2,000 trucks have been stuck in Dir for the last three weeks. Passenger vehicles are allowed two days a week without any schedule, which takes 22 hours to cross the 9km tunnel.
The shortage of food items, LPG cylinders and other necessities of life has forced traders union to go for a shutter-down strike. There is no communication between the government and the people of Chitral at any level. This has left the people no choice but to look at the Corps Commander Peshawar with the hope that he will use his influence and position to redress their grievances.
