Transparency report recognition of govt policies, says Shahbaz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said improved ranking in the recent report of Transparency International (TI) was an acknowledgement of the government policies to ensure transparency in Pakistan.
In a statement, the chief minister said, “This report is an honour not only for the PML-N government but also for the 220 million people of Pakistan.” He said the TI report proved that the government had promoted transparency at every level.” This report has acknowledged the steps taken by the government of Pakistan for the eradication of corruption.”
The chief minister said the improved ranking also showed that the government measures for eliminating corruption were result-oriented. He said savings to the tune of billions of rupees had been ensured through transparency in different development projects for the first time in the country’s history. “The PML-N government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the corruption,” he remarked.
“Pakistan’s international image has been improved due to promotion of transparency, elimination of corruption and the policy of providing better services to the people,” said Shahbaz. Separately, the chief minister vowed to continue pursuing the politics of public service and the mission of development.
He said historic achievements had been made health, education, agriculture and other sectors, making Punjab an example for other provinces. “Transparency, quality and speed are our hallmarks and the journey of development will be accelerated with speed,” he said.
On the other hand, Shahbaz congratulated the nation, players, PCB and administration of PSL on the start of third season of Pakistan Super League. He said the PSL would be helpful in restoring international cricket in Pakistan, adding that such events promoted a soft image of Pakistan around the world.
