85pc work on Orange Train project completed: Hassaan

More than 85 percent civil as well as 46 percent electrical and mechanical work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project has so far been completed, including construction of track near Gulabi Bagh and Buddhu’s tomb where work remained suspended due to restraining order.

Adviser to the chief minister and chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (LOMTP) Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan told this while chairing the weekly progress review meeting here Wednesday.

Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan told that the project was being executed on fast track for earliest completion of this pro-public facility. General Manager, NESPAK Salman Hafeez told the meeting that progress of work on package-I from Dera Gujran, GT Road to Chauburji was 89.92 percent, on package-II from Chauburji to Ali Town was 78.43 percent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 86.31 percent while on stabling yard near Ali Town it was 87.62 percent.

He informed that testing of more than 10 kilometers long track, which has so far been laid, had also been started and had been satisfactory. Work had been geared up for finishing four kilometers length of the route from Dera Gujran to Mehmood Booti by the end of current month, he added.

Later, Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan visited Metro Train’s depot at Dera Gujran and first four stations on GT Road where he was informed that 92 percent work on Dera Gujran station, 96.5 percent on Islam Park, 95.6 percent on Salamatpura and 94.61 percent on Mehmood Booti station had been completed and all possible measures were being taken for finishing these four stations during the current month.
