301 motorists bookedfor traffic rules violation

LAHORE: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) registered 301 cases against motorists for not following traffic rules, arrested three people, foiled a dacoity attempt, arrested two people for opening fire at a patrolling vehicle, arrested 15 people for using fake registration no-plates, arrested two drunkards, recovered fireworks from two people and arrested eight gamblers.

PHP Post Samtia Morr tried to stop motorcycle LYL/9219, but the riders did not stop and fired at the patrolling vehicle. PHP personnel chased and arrested them. They were identified as Muhammad Nasir and Muhammad Shahid. In another case PHP Post Gunj Shakar received information that some people are sitting on a road with the intention of robbery. PHP team reached the spot and arrested Safarish, Waseem and Imran and recovered three pistols from them. PHP registered 301 cases against traffic violators, and seized 15 bikes on using fake registration or green number plates. A PHP team arrested eight gamblers Naeem, Ramzan, Samiullah, Shahzad, Irfan, Aftab, Mubeen, Saif-ul-Malook and Ghulam Mustafa. A PHP team arrested two drunkards Muhammad Nasir and Muhammad Shahid. A PHP team arrested 22 culprits on fixing prohibited gas cylinders and seven people under Sound Act Violations.

arrested: Baghbanpura police claimed to have arrested three drugs peddlers and recovered six-kg charas from them. The accused were identified as Iftikhar Kattu, Iffat Guria and Imran. DIG Operations appreciated the performance of the SHO.

Meanwhile, Mustafabad police claimed to have busted two-member dacoit gang and recovered booty from their custody. The accused have been identified as Fahad Ali and Rashid Mahmood.

EXPAT: As a result of the efforts of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, Vice Chairperson, OPC, Shaheen Khalid Butt and Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said Naveed Ahmad settled in UK filed a complaint that he purchased a five-marla house in a private housing society in 2009 and made all the payment but he is yet to receive the house. Shaheen Khalid and Afzaal Bhatti said OPC team contacted the administration of the housing society and ensured the provision of house to Overseas Pakistani.

ACCIDENTS: At least 814 road accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 37 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which 10 lives were lost and 525 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts & tehsils.

However, some 408 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by emergency medical teams.
