Revival of sports

That the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has entered into its third season is a positive sign for the country. Two matches of the event will be played in Lahore while the final will be played in Karachi. It is a big achievement for the higher authorities whose relentless efforts have brought international cricket back to Pakistan. Cricket fans around the country are excited for the event which plays an important role in polishing the skills of domestic players while giving them a chance to showcase their skills in front of selectors.

The biggest advantage of the PSL is that it helps find fresh players for the national team. This model should be adopted to promote other sports in the country. It is an unfortunate truth that in our country other sports, including hockey, squash, tennis and boxing, are not given much attention. Nation-wide tournaments should be held to attract more people to the sports that are often kept away from the limelight. It is hoped that other sports boards will follow the example set by the PCB.
