NAB recovers Rs3.6b from RPPs

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has recovered Rs3.6 billion in Rental Power Projects (RPPs) and distributed it among concerned contractors/sponsors and government department etc as per law.

The NAB Rawalpindi has filed 11 references in RPP scandal including Karkey Ship, Piranghaib Multan, Sahuwal Sialkot, Guddu Sindh, Naudero II Sindh, Summundri Road, Naudero-I Sindh, , M/S Reshma Power Generation Raiwand, M/S Young Gen Power Ltd, Bhikki Sheikhupura and M/S Gulf Rental Power Pvt Ltd in respected accountability court Islamabad.

The main accused in these references are ex-PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, ex-minister Shaukat Tareen, ex-minister finance Ismail Qureshi, ex-secretary/chairman Pepco Shahid Rafi, ex-secretary/ chairman Pepco Tahir Basharat Cheema, ex-MD Pepco and others.

NAB DG Rawalpindi Irfan Naeem Mangi has said that in light of the directions of Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, NAB strongly believes in zero tolerance policy against corruption. He said the NAB’s anti-corruption campaign is carried widely for awareness and prevention of corruption besides enforcement across the board.
