PESHAWAR: The supporters of the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Javed Nasim protested his expulsion from the party by holding a demonstration here Monday.
They also protested the move to get his assembly membership cancelled on the charges of horse-trading in the recent Senate elections. The PTI office-bearers and members from Javed Nasim’s PK-3 constituency reached the venue in small processions and on motorcycles. They continued sloganeering in support of Javed Nasim till his arrival at the scene.
Some activists carrying placards inscribed with slogans in his favour said Javed Nasim was a poor man and the poor never sell their loyalty. The MPA, who was expelled from the party after he proposed an independent candidate, Waqar Ahmad Khan, in the Senate elections against the party’s directives, said he preferred to stay away from the polling to prove that he had neither sold his vote nor violated PTI discipline. Instead, the capitalists and industrialists always crave after monetary benefits, he asserted.
Javed Nasim, who had staged protest sits-in against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak before the Senate elections, said he would continue his campaign against corruption and injustices against the poor.
“I represent 98 percent people in my constituency and would become voice of common man by reaching out to the poor,” he stressed. The legislator said the poor had elected him in the general election and he could not think of breaching their trust.
Later talking to reporters, Javed Nasim said no one could expel him from the party. “The party leaders would have to fulfill the legal requirements for expelling me,” he pointed out.The MPA said he could not think of deceiving the PTI. He said he had also responded to the show-cause notice issue to him. He maintained that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had been misled by those who were around him.
Javed Nasim alleged that the PTI also had its militant wing like the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). “Under what law my mother was dragged and I was abused during the protest outside my house,” he asked. He complained the police didn’t take action when he reported the case. He alleged the entire province had been turned into a police state.
The PTI dissident appealed to the chief of army staff and corps commander Peshawar to impose a state of emergency in KP to maintain law and order as the PTI had failed to control the situation.
Protest staged against PTI MNA: The activists of Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) Monday staged a protest demonstration at the University of Peshawar to press the university administration to take action against the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly Murad Saeed for allegedly using unfair means in the examination.
Led by campus president Farman Khan, the protesters emerged from the New Academic Block and reached the vice-chancellor office after passing through different departments. The protesters said the matter should be probed impartially. They warned of launching a protest movement if the university administration tried to hush up the matter.
