Green-shirts salvage draw against Oman
February 19, 2018
Oman gave Pakistan a major scare but the latter managed to secure a draw in their match of the three-nation hockey tournament the other day.
When Pakistan ran up a three-goal lead in the first 10 minutes, it seemed the hosts would be buried in goals. Pakistan’s center forward Arsalan Qadir opened the account through a good move, scoring the first goal in the 2nd minute. Abubakr doubled the lead when he converted a penalty corner. Shafqat Mehmood netted the third goal for his team.
Oman launched counter-attacks and not only equalised within the next 10 minutes but even went ahead in the 25th minute. Oman’s lead remained intact for next 18 minutes. Pakistan finally managed to equalise through veteran Shafqat Rasool in the 43rd minute.
