Every mind has its unique filters. Everyone has their own heroes and it is okay to have difference in opinions. But our differences shouldn’t turn us into an uncivilised nation – the one which is insensitive towards other people’s feeling. Every day, we take part in useless debates on social networking sites. In an attempt to win the argument, we do not think before tarnishing someone’s image. Although social media has given us the power to share our thoughts, some people think that it is their duty to speak ill about everything and everyone, no matter how limited their knowledge is.
Fake news is the new sensation. We forward everything without verifying it. One persons’ mindless ranting goes viral in seconds. This is the power of social media. What I am deeply ashamed of is the popularity of fake clips and controversial stories which try to tarnish the image of late Asma Jahangir on social media. Our uncivilised people don’t even let the dead rest in peace. It’s a new low for us. We used to be the country which honoured our national heroes. Now we cannot keep quiet without disagreeing with any person. Whose egos are we satisfying? We have become a weak nation and others are taking advantage of it. We need to have a strong powerful leadership to overcome this negative mindset.
