Rescue DG reviews patient transfer service

LAHORE

Punjab Emergency Service Director General convened the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) conference to mark first anniversary of Patient Transfer Service (PTS).

Patient Transfer Service Operations Head Ayaz Aslam delivered a presentation on annual performance. PTS was started with 500 ambulances to ensure availability of ambulances to facilitate patients, he said. Some 2,05,134 patients have been shifted by emergency technicians to specialised health facilities through a robust mechanism. Ambulance Service Desks have also been established at DHQ and teaching hospitals across Punjab.

Rescue DG reviewed analysis of PTS data and identified that the highest out of district transportation of patients was made from Sheikhupura to Lahore whereas, the highest transportation of patients within the district was carried out in Multan. The data showed that 2,05,134 patients were referred to advanced health facilities due to non-availability of facilities. He lauded the contribution of all District Offices and rescue staff for accepting PTS challenge and making it successful. He emphasised to ensure monitoring of PTS on daily basis. He praised efforts of Transport Maintenance Inspectors (TMIs) to resolve maintenance problems of ambulances in time.

District Emergency Officers said that patient should be shifted on the approval of DMS and in coordination between hospitals.

endoscopy: In the three-day international neurosurgery conference, in the presence of international delegates, Professor of Punjab Institute of Neurosciences and Lahore General Hospital Unit II Dr Khalid Mahmud gave live training of endoscopy operations.

According to a press release issued here on Saturday, all the participants were delighted with the professional capabilities and expertise of Prof Dr Khalid Mahmud who also read out his research papers and threw light on the complicated cases. He said, "In the past Pakistani doctors had to go abroad for training while now our doctors share their experiences in other countries. Especially in endoscopy, we are ahead of thee developed countries."
