ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday asked what he called the ‘father-daughter duo’ to stop trying to fool the nation by declaring repeatedly that they were going to the masses’ court for justice.

“The father-daughter Sharif duo should stop trying to fool the nation by declaring repeatedly that they are going to Awam court for justice! Everyone knows in democracies people use their vote to elect their representatives but it is the Judiciary that must dispense justice,” he said in tweets.

Imran wrote: “They should see how in South Africa the ANC threw out its leader Jacob Zuma because of corruption charges against him; Israel's Netanyahu, who is the PM, is facing a police investigation for corruption! Being voted into power does not place one above the law”.

He wrote: “And other state institutions have the task of exposing and acting against corruption etc. Sharifs are implying that once voted into power one becomes above the law of the land and beyond any accountability”.

Meanwhile, addressing the party’s Central Executive Committee meeting here, Imran asked the party leaders and workers to apprise the people of the party’s manifesto, while the PML-N had nothing to say except resort to hurling personal attacks.

Imran Khan said there will be an electoral contest between the PTI and PML-N in Punjab in the next general election, as the PPP no more existed in the largest province. He claimed to have never used PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for personal gains, whereas the Sharifs had looted the nation throughout their history. Imran accused the Sharif family of having committed massive corruption, claiming their corruption had been unearthed by a Chinese institution.

He lamented that the Sharif family is not prepared for accountability of Rs300 billion wealth, as whenever such a demand is made, they start talking about roads and bridges. He vowed to file corruption cases against the federal government and the Punjab government for which a committee has already been set up under the party’s senior leader Shafqat Mehmood. “We will respond to negative statements by the PML-N in a positive way,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, a former PML-N leader and ex-state minister Omar Ayub formally joined the PTI in the presence of Imran, KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and other leaders. Imran welcomed him in the party fold.

In another development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has invited Nawaz Sharif to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to have a look at his government’s Billion Tree Tsunami, hydro power projects and its outstanding governance system. “I, myself will accompany them across the province to show the PTI government’s performance”, said Khattak in a statement.

The PTI’s central media department said Pervaiz Khattak has slammed Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, alleging the Sharif brothers are throwing a tantrum at opponents to divert people’s attention from their performance in the Punjab. “Shahbaz Sharif’s governance is a farce and he utilised all his energies in stashing tax payers’ money”, said the CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“I invite Sharif brothers to come to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and inspect the PTI government’s projects, including Billion Tree Tsunami Project, the hydro power projects and its reforms in various sectors, including police, health and local governance system which has been acknowledged globally,” said Khattak.

Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry has welcomed the ATC judgment in the Zainab rape-murder case and appreciated the speedy manner in which it was disposed of. He said the trend set with regard to this particular case should continue. He noted that Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar evinced special interest in this case and he deserved to be congratulated for his role in delivery of speedy justice.

About Nawaz Sharif’s speech, Fawad alleged in reality Nawaz could not become prime minister, as the country’s top court has disqualified him declaring him corrupt and a mafia. However, he said if Nawaz is so fond of becoming a prime minister, he might get it written on a wall and ask his sons to call him prime minister.

About Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Fawad claimed that he is just a puppet, as practically Fawad Hasan Fawad was the prime minister.
