ISLAMABAD: Declaring Nawaz Sharif an accuse in the supplementary references, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) says the former prime minister is the real owner of all the assets despite them being in the name of his children.
According to a private TV channel, this has been stated in the supplementary references filed by the NAB in the Al Azizia and Flagship references. The supplementary references hold Nawaz as the primary accused in the cases. Moreover, it states that the NAB conducted an investigation into Nawaz’s assets and even visited London in this regard.
The supplementary references add that Nawaz Sharif failed to prove his innocence and when asked to appear before the bureau he chose not to do so. Referring to the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the supplementary references mention that the JIT report has enough evidence to take the proceedings further.
On Wednesday, the NAB filed supplementary references in Al Azizia and Flagship references with the accountability court hearing corruption cases against Nawaz and his family. Nawaz’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are accused in the two references. Eight new witnesses in each reference as well as new evidence, including details of offshore companies of Hassan and Hussain, are part of the supplementary references.
