Intercollegiate English declamation contest held
Islamabad: English Debate competition was held under intercollegiate competition at Islamabad Model College for Girls (Postgraduate) F-7/4, Islamabad here on Wednesday.
Teams of selected students of different colleges participated in the event. Among the guests were Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi, DG Fedral Directorate of Education Islamabad, Director Colleges Ms Amber Sultana, among the audiences were the Principal of the college, Saleha Jabeen, faculty members and outsized number of students were present at the occasion. Program started with recitation from the verses of Holy Quran followed by ‘Naat.’ In the debate, given topic was ‘Celebrities should not be the Role Model’, of which the participants spoke in favour and against.
Among the Judges English Debate were reputed literary scholars including Professor Dr Ayaz Qadeer, Huma Batool, & Zafar ullah Shaheen. the awards distributed by the guests after the results announced, Rabia Jameel (Government Postgraduate College Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi) clinched 1st position, while Shazeen Sadiq (Government Postgraduate College, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi) and Humaira Kiran (IMCG (PG) F-7/2), got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Consolation prize was secured by Jannat Mubbashir (IMCG (PG) F-7/2) in competitions.
The Trophy for overall excellent performance went to (Government Postgraduate College, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi). The Principal of the College Saleha Jabeen while addressing on the occasion said that it is important that your role model must be a stimulated person who supports an encourage in your struggles and efforts. A role model may not be a famous person at all our parents, teachers and our friends can better be a role model as well.
The chief guest, Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi, addressed the audience and appreciated the participants on their inspiring and motivational style. He persuaded the audiences to have dreams to target their aims nothing in this world is impossible. He reviewed the great inspiring history of some of the globally known personalities that how they come up to become such icons. Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi advised the students to not only focus their formal learning but also keep themselves well informed about the what is going around.
