Tribute paid to police martyrs

LAHORE : Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan has said that officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty are front line soldiers and assets to Punjab Police, their sacrifice proves that Punjab Police is working diligently all the time for providing security to people’s lives and properties and they will never step back to exemplifying bravery and sacrifices in the future also.

He said that sacrifices of DIG Captain Ahmed Mubeen Shaheed, Zahid Mehmood Gondal Shaheed, Asmat Ullah Shaheed and Ameen Shaheed and other Mall Road blast martyrs have uplifted the morale of whole force and all the officers are performing their duties with more enthusiasm and passion.

He stated this Tuesday while addressing a tribute ceremony that was held in Alhamra Hall No II, on the occasion of first anniversary of Charing Cross blast incident.

Lahore CCPO Captain (R) Muhammad Ameen Wains, Additional IG CTD Rai Muhammad Tahir, DIG investigation Lahore Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG operations Lahore Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP administration Lahore Rana Ayaz Saleem, CTO Lahore Rai Ejaz Ahmed, SSP operations Muntazir Mehdi with officers of Lahore police were also present.

Leading personalities from different walks of life, including Maulana Raghib Naeemi, singer Jawad Ahmed, civil society network president Abdullah Malik, Habib Akram, Wasif Nagi, Sajjad Pirzada, Zameer Afaqi, Hafiz Zuhaib Tayyab, mother of Captain Ahmed Mubeen Shaheed, father of martyred constables Ghulam Murtaza and Ali Raza and families of other martyrs attended the ceremony. The day started with recitation of Holy Quran at Police Line, after that senior police officers paid visit to the graves of brave martyrs in different parts of the city, where guard of honours were also paid to martyrs, after that CCPO Lahore went to ‘Yadgar-e-Shuhda’ in Police Lines and recited Fateha. Later, a tribute ceremony started in Al-Hamra Hall No II, in which IGP Punjab while addressing said that the day of 13th February is the day of renewal of commitment with the brave martyrs of Lahore, that we continue their mission by fulfilling our duties in all possible circumstances. Our homeland and people of Pakistan have more rights on us after joining the Punjab Police. Main purpose of our lives is to protect the lives of those who rely on us. He said that I feel proud to be a commander of this force which has blood of 1,400 martyrs in its foundation.

Lahore CCPO Captain (R) Muhammad Ameen Wains said each and every soldier of Lahore Police is ready to serve the nation till last drop of his blood and Lahore Police have great history of sacrifices and professionalism. History is witness that soldiers of Punjab Police did not show cowardice while fighting against terrorists and anti-social elements. He said that Police service is not just a job, we are resolved for the completion of a great mission and this mission will continue until the elimination of anti-peace elements from the country. He said that welfare and looking after of families of martyrs is the prime responsibility of Lahore Police.
