Poisonous veggies

This refers to the news report, ‘PM Nawaz pays surprise visit to Islamabad markets’ (February 8). The question is: Are these visits of any use? Can they be fruitful to us? The answer is no.
The vegetables we take daily are actually a threat to our lives. The leafy vegetables that occupy a crown position in a dietician’s prescription are being harvested using water which is unsafe for health in our country. Chemicals that increase the weight of veggies are used, causing a number of diseases. The government is completely familiar with what is going on and is still not taking any remedial measures. It is time our rulers concentrated on providing people with healthy instead of paying fruitless visits to markets.
