Robbers kill bank guard on resistance

LAHORE: Robbers killed a security guard of a bank near in the Defence-A police area on Thursday morning.

The victim has been identified as Sajjad Siddique. Police said robbers were trying to uproot the bank ATM when the guard offered resistance. The robbers attacked him with knives and left him injured. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police collected evidences from the crime scene. Police are terming the incident of murder a result of an old enmity. However, the family members of the victim said robbers killed him. They alleged the SHO was not cooperating with them.

Meanwhile, they blocked Gurumangat Road at Gulberg and protested against police. They alleged the SHO was not paying heed to their issue. The protest created traffic mess for over an hour. No case was registered till the filing of this report. The body has been removed to morgue.

arrested: The city traffic police on Thursday arrested a gang of boys who used to beg on roads impersonating eunuchs. Cases have also been registered against them. The city traffic police have started a campaign against beggars for disrupting traffic flow at traffic signals. A traffic response unit has also been set up for the purpose. According to an official handout, the city traffic police detained 370 beggars in January and registered cases against them. Most of the child beggars were handed over to Child Protection Unit.
