Sindh governor wants British parliamentarians to promote ‘improved image’ of Pakistan
Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said the British members of parliament and cabinet members could play an important role in promoting the “real soft and improved image of Pakistan” among the international community.
He stated this as he met the British prime minister’s special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Gareth Bayley, at the Governor House on Wednesday. The British parliamentarians and ministers could do image-building of Pakistan, where the situation had improved a lot as contrary to the general impression prevailing in the outside world, he added.
The governor stated that travel advisories for prospective foreign visitors to Pakistan should be reviewed positively after improvement in the security situation of the country. Britain and Pakistan had always been important commercial partners and trade and economic relations between the two countries should be further strengthened, he said.
Zubair said foreign investment had been consistently increasing in the country owing to successful economic policies of the government, and that had proved beneficial to various sections of the economy. He said statistics of different sectors had showed a positive impact of economic policies of the government.
He stated that cultural, trade, social and commercial activities had also increased in Sindh after the restoration of law and order there. He said prospective investors from the UK could invest in infrastructure development, agriculture, energy and other similar sectors of business and economy to gain instant results.
He said Pakistan of the present day had changed a lot from the Pakistan of the year 2013, as both security and energy situations had improved a lot in the country. The governor said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) being built in the country would prove a game-changer for the entire region as the corridor project would be highly beneficial to the economies of both countries. He said that Pakistan would be a more prosperous and developed country after the completion of the CPEC.
The British PM’s special representative said that Pakistan had been an important ally and partner of the UK and its role had been positive for global peace. He maintained that Pakistan had always played an important role for global peace. He said people of Pakistani origin had played an important role in the development of the UK.
Minorities’ role
The governor said people belonging to religious minorities had played an important role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan. He was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of the Hindu community, led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Kheal Das Kohistani. Zubair said the Hindu community contributed a lot to the development and prosperity of Sindh. He added that people belonging to the Hindu community had become prominent persons in different walks of life. He said the government was committed to resolving the problems of religious minorities.
