‘Community centres at police stations’

Islamabad: Community centres would be established at each police station and debate would be made there with senior police officials by community members for strategy about peace and security in society.

It was stated by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sultan Azam Temur while speaking with Human Rights and Community Police Officers in a meeting here at Central Police Office which was attended among others by SP (City) Ahmed Iqbal and others.

The IGP said that community and service oriented policing is the only way to win public confidence and conciliatory committees would be made more effective to bridge gap between police and people.

He said that community policing has three parts as interaction is made in the first phase and community members tell the issues during the second phase and solution of these problems are made collectively during the last stage. He said Islamabad police is very much committed to serve the people and enhance liaison with community through inculcating various friendly measure in order to win public support.
