Justice Mansoor takes oath as SC judge
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday administered the oath of office to Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as a Supreme Court judge at a simple but dignified ceremony. Justice Mansoor was previously serving as the Lahore High Court chief justice.
The judges of the Supreme Court, attorney general, senior lawyers, law officers, and officers of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan and the Federal Judicial Academy attended the ceremony. On January 18, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan had recommended the elevation of Lahore High Court chief justice Mansoor to the Supreme Court. Similarly, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan had also recommended Justice Yawar Ali Khan as the new Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
Justice Yawar Ali is one of the members of the special court hearing the high treason case against former military dictator Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for imposing emergency rule in the country in 2007. After elevation of Justice Mansoor, the Supreme Court has regained its full strength of 17 judges.
