Ex-militants resume normal life after de-radicalisation
BARA: Around 126 former militants passed out of the de-radicalisation centre here on Tuesday.
Corps Commander Peshawar Nazir Ahmad Butt visited the De-radicalisation Centre (DRC-Sabaoon-2) where around 305 former militants are being de-indoctrinated.
Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Waseem Ashraf, Sector Commander Brigadier Arshad Taufeeq, Political Agent of Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood, Assistant Political Agent of Bara Asmatullah Wazir and elders were presents on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Nazir Ahmad Butt said the tribal people had made matchless sacrifices for the restoration of peace.
He said the militants had destroyed the homes, schools and hospitals in Khyber Agency. “We will never forget the sacrifices of the tribesmen for sake of the country,” he stated. He said that peace had been restored in the tribal areas particularly in Khyber Agency.
“The tribesmen should educate their children so that they could face the prevailing challenges,” Nazir Ahmad Butt said.
The corps commander said the security forces would support the Khassadar force in stopping the smuggling of drugs in Khyber Agency.
“We will launch a drive against the drugs dealers and smugglers in the tribal areas,” he said, adding, the political administration should also take a stern action against them. He lauded the elders, political administration and DRC administration for arranging the event.
