Tribesmen torch houses of rivals in Dera Ismail Khan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Angry over the failure of police to arrest the accused involved in the murder of a tribesman, the furious tribesmen on Tuesday torched the houses of the rival tribe.
A tribesman was shot dead and his brother sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident at Sheikh Yousaf bus-stand a few days ago. The tribesmen belonging to Wazir tribe had then put the body at the GPO Chowk and given two-day deadline to the police for the arrest of the accused involved in the murder of their fellow tribesman.
After the expiry of the deadline, the charged tribesmen belonging to Wazir tribe first blocked a road near the Sheikh Yousaf bus-stand and later attacked the houses of the alleged accused.
They set the houses in Umar Town in Dera Ismail Khan on fire. The houses, other belongings and two vehicles were reduced to ashes in the incident.
Meanwhile, the local police through a statement claimed that the prime accused involved in the murder identified as Sher Khan Mahsud was arrested soon after the registration of the case.
The statement said that raids were being conducted for the arrest of accused Attaur Rehman and others.
The statement further said that the police have also started taking action against those who took the law into their own hands and for causing damages to private properties.
