PMKP opposes eviction of peasants from lands
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Mazdoor Kisan Party (PMKP) in its meeting on Monday criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) for getting Tenancy Act passed from provincial assembly and paving the way for the illegal eviction of peasants in Hashtnagar to appease a few landlords.
Speaking on the occasion, the central PMKP chairman, Afzal Khamosh, vice-chairman, Shakeel Waheedullah Khan and provincial president Gul Haider Khan said that the government should have formed commission before illegal eviction of the farmers. They said the poor farmers had cultivated these lands but now they were forcefully ejected.
The PMKP leaders asked the landlords and Khans of the areas to stop injustices to poor farmers and find out a solution of the crisis by holding negotiation with the farmers. They said the PMKP would convene an all parties conference against the tenancy law. The speakers said it was the responsibility of the opposition parties to play a role against the black law and help stop the ongoing injustices with the farmers.
