New student leaders sworn in

Islamabad: New student leaders took over the reins during the investiture ceremony at the Islamabad Model College for Girls, Bhara Kahu, on the outskirts of the federal capital on Tuesday.

Federal Directorate of Education Director (Colleges) Amber Sultana, who was the chief guest on the occasion, administered the oath to the members of the newly-elected Student Council 2017-18, including Shaheen, Sehrosh Rao, Kashmala, Tayyab Awan, Sania Akhter, Noor Bokhari, Ghazal Asghar, Saba Zakir, Areesha Nayab and others, both from first and second year classes, amid cheers.

According to the organisers, the event was held to empower students and produce leadership qualities among them to help them become responsible citizens.

During the event, where college principal Professor Samina Ashraf was the guest of honour, the college's auditorium wore a festive look with the students dressed in white looking very excited. The supporters cheered for their candidates. On the occasion, FDE director (colleges) Amber Sultana administered the oath to the students.

She said she was pleased to attend the event, which provided her the opportunity to interact with intelligent young students. The FDE director congratulated members of the Student Council 2017-18 on election and declared the students of today the country's future leaders.

"The elected body should feel proud today because they have the sense of responsibility to be leaders of tomorrow," she said. Amber Sultana said the role of girls as leader was very important in the building of a society.
