DUBAI: A change in the UAE visa system comes into effect today (Sunday) under which the incoming workers will have to produce a certificate proving that they don’t have a criminal record either in their country of origin or a previous country of residence.
The certificate will only be applicable for the worker concerned and not his/her dependents.
Those coming to the country on visit, tourist or student visas needn't get the certificate.
All those seeking a UAE work visa will now need a "good conduct and behaviour" certificate. The purpose of the new measure is to help safeguard national security and create a safer community.
