Are Kashmiris invisible?

February 04, 2018

Kashmir is in turmoil since the partition in 1947 and has been a victim of India’s human rights abuses. In 2016, hundreds of civilians suffered serious injuries after they were attacked with pellet guns. There were calls for banning the use of pellet guns in the valley, but India argued that this weapon is non-lethal and didn’t discontinue its use. Injustice in Kashmir is at its peak. Hundreds of people have sacrificed their lives during the fight against Indian oppression. Pakistan has tried multiple times to highlight the Kashmir issue and direct the attention of the international community to the issue, but it hasn’t been successful in its efforts. To date, nothing has been done to alleviate the suffering of the people of Kashmir.

Last year, a video in which a Kashmiri man was tied to a jeep by the Indian army invited outrage. That video was a glimpse into the current situation of Kashmiris. They are subjected to India’s cruel, degrading and insensitive treatment. These people have a right to live in a peaceful environment. They have a right to breathe in the open air. The world must protest against the Indian brutality in the valley. Pakistan is always there to support these people. We will not remain quiet.
