Three held for blackmailing girl students

MULTAN: The Special Branch personnel have arrested three members of a gang of students, lecturers and a bank official at Bahauddin Zakariyia University over alleged filming private clips of girl students to blackmail them. The arrested accused have been shifted to undisclosed place for interrogation on Wednesday, said the police. The Special Branch personnel detected the case when a girl student lodged a complaint that her class fellow Ali Raza Qureshi had allegedly made her objectionable clips and was allegedly blackmailing her. She alleged the accused was demanding money to delete her video.

The girl told the police that she had lodged her complaint with the university administration about one year ago but the administration did not take any action. She said that her class fellow was continuously blackmailing her for the last one year and she had paid Rs30,000 to him to delete her clips a few days back. Officials said that Special Branch personnel arrested Ali Raza Qureshi and interrogated him. He disclosed rest of the gang members involved in filming footages and blackmailing girls at the university. On his disclosure, the personnel arrested BZU SaraIkI Department lecturer Ajmal Mahar and BZU bank manager Tanzilur Rehman. Police officials said a case had been registered against them. BZU Resident Officer Prof Dr Muqarab Akbar rejected any such incident. He said he came to know about the arrest and the university had ordered an inquiry.
