CPEC to alter course of history: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz said rehabilitation of a sagging economy the government was a marvellous achievement of the PML-N. He said effective development strategy boosted economic activity and the increase in investment had created hundreds of thousands of job opportunities.

Shahbaz was talking to Adviser to the Prime Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail who called on him Wednesday, as they discussed matters relating to strengthening of economy and ongoing projects initiated under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The chief minister described the goal of a self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan as a mission and said CPEC was a gigantic initiative of national development and prosperity, adding that it would alter the course of history.

He said the CPEC-related initiatives would change the destiny of the nation and play an important role in eliminating terrorism, fanaticism and poverty from the region. “The economic corridor will usher in a new era of socioeconomic development and, as a result, Pakistan will become the focal point of trade and economic activities,” he noted.

Shahbaz lamented that the opponents of public development tried to hinder the CPEC project. Miftah praised the chief minister for unprecedented steps taken for developing the province, which had become as a role model for others.
