SC adjourns hearing in DTH licence case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of the case regarding auction of Direct to Home (DTH) technology licences till February 14.
A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard the case. The chief justice observed during the hearing that the court cannot say whether the DTH technology is good or bad as it is a policy matter. Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that TV licence holders were not allowed to take part in DTH auction so that they could not make their monopoly.
The chief justice said that he is looking after the matters of the apex court as it head for public interest. He said he must be approached at his chamber if he transgressed from his powers. He observed that some organisations are also ruined under their own weight. The court sought record of appeals against the decision of Sindh High Court in the case and adjourned hearing.
