PITB invites applications for job training

LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) e-Rozgaar Programme has invited online applications for creative, technical and non-technical jobs training at https://www.erozgaar.pitb.gov.pk/candidate_portal from all 36 districts of the Punjab for new batch of e-Rozgaar Programme with a deadline of March 5 while eligibility criteria includes Punjab domicile, maximum age 35-year and minimum 16 years of education.

The new batch will get training at UET Taxila, GCWUF Faisalabad, UOG Gujrat, COMSATS Sahiwal, PU Campus Jhelum, Govt Post Graduate College For Women Rawalpindi (UOG Sub Campus ), Govt College For Women University Sialkot, Lahore College For Women University, Punjab University Lahore, Punjab University Gujranwala, University of Sargodha, FAST Chiniot, COMSATS Wah Cantt, UAF Faisalabad, BZU Multan, NFC Multan and University of Education Vehari, COMSATS Attock, University of Sargodha Mianwali Sub Campus, University of Sargodha Bhakkar Campus, University of Education Joharabad-Khushab Campus, University of Gujrat Narowal Sub Campus, UET Lahore, ITU Lahore, Khawaja Fareed University Rahim Yar Khan, Government College of Commerce Khanewal, Government Post Graduate College Okara, Government Pir Bahar Shah Degree College for Women Sheikhupura, Government Degree College for Women Pindi Bhattian Hafizabad and Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan centres.

Applications from Attock, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Chakwal, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Kasur, Khanewal, Khushab, Lahore, Layyah, Lodhran, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Narowal, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh and Vehari districts are also being entertained.

To encourage self-sustainable modes of income in women, there are five dedicated female centers operating as well. In case applicants want to change their domain they have to submit an appeal in the first week of classes.

Physics symposium: The 15th national symposium “Frontiers of Physics” began at Government College University (GCU) here on Monday.

A large number of physicists from Pakistan’s leading universities and R&D organisations are participating in this three-day event which will have 27 technical sessions on different topics including condensed matter physics, high energy particle physics, nanotechnology, cosmology, atomic & molecular physics, lasers, plasma physics & controlled fusion.

About 82 physicists are presenting talks and papers at the symposium highlighting the recent important developments in physics and the impact of these developments on various aspects of our lives.

In his address at the inaugural ceremony of the symposium, Government College University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah highlighted the need for more skilled individuals in all areas of science and technology. He hoped that the symposium would provide an opportunity to students and young faculty to interact with senior physicists and to learn from them.

In his opening remarks, noted plasma physicist and mathematician Prof Dr G Murtaza who also holds the Salam chair at Government College University noted that the world of science was witnessing rapid developments and the knowledge was accumulating at very fast pace and physicists are making great progress in uncovering the deep mysteries of the nature.

He explained the recent major breakthroughs in physics which have resulted in the development of quantum computers, two dimensional materials including Graphene which has very interesting properties, topological insulators, energy efficient blue LEDs and atomic clocks. He explained to the students the technological advancements which have won the Nobel prize in the last two decades. Eminent nuclear physicist Prof Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy presented a key note address on neutron stars. Prof Hoodbhoy explained to the students the process of start formation and how at the end of its life.

A session of the symposium is also dedicated to the scientific contributions of Prof Abdus Salam.

PhDs: Punjab University (PU) on Monday awarded PhDs to four scholars. According to details, Aisha Jalil has been awarded a PhD in Sociology, Naqi Hussain in Environmental Sciences, Muhammad Amin in Agricultural Sciences and Ghulam Hussain in Chemistry.
