Food authority urged to check marriage halls

Rawalpindi: With the wedding season going on the guests have pointed out that the administration of most of the marriage halls are hesitant to provide food in line with the standard set up by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).

The PFA has directed the marriage halls to hire only those catering companies that have obtained licence from it to ensure the guests are served with better and hygienic food during the wedding ceremonies and party events.

Shaukat Tanvir, a resident of Commercial Market, said there is no doubt in it that the marriage halls make commitments with their customers to provide quality food but it often never happens to the disappointment of the guests.

“I attended two wedding ceremonies in the marriage halls last week and I can easily say that the fake brands of cold drinks were served to the guests. The customers who hire services of the marriage halls cannot themselves monitor such things,” he said. The residents have demanded of the PFA to take strict action against those marriage halls that mint money from the customers but fail to provide quality food to the guests.
