Islamabad: The country’s three government universities have long been functioning without permanent heads. Among them are Kohat University of Science and Technology, Kohat, Government College University, Faisalabad, and University of Fata.
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman told ‘The News’ that the post of vice chancellor at the Kohat University of Science and Technology had been lying since October 15, 2014. He said the process to appoint an acting vice chancellor to the university was in process at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa higher education department and that it was likely to be completed soon.
The minister said the post of the vice chancellor at the Government College University, Faisalabad, had been vacant since October 25, 2014. He said currently, Professor M Zuber, dean of the science and technology faculty, looked after affairs of the vice chancellor. “The process of the vice chancellor’s appointment is in process at the Punjab governor’s Office. The appointment is likely to be made soon,” he said.
Balighur Rehman said the appointment of former vice chancellor to the University of Fata had been withdrawn. He said the appointment of new vice chancellor was in progress at the FATA Directorate of Education and that the exercise would be completed shortly.
