LAKKI MARWAT: The government employees affiliated with all employees coordination council, district chapter, held a hunger strike camp and closed Lakki-Tajazai road on Tuesday to record their protest against the harsh behaviour of district health officer (DHO) and press the government to transfer him from the district.
The camp was set up on the premises of district health office near Lakki city where the protesters had also displayed gigantic banners. The banners carried messages of boycotting anti-polio drive by government employees and condemnation of harsh attitude of the heath officer.
A large number of lady health workers and lady health supervisors attended the hunger strike camp. Muhammad Aslam Khan, the employees' council central chairman, APCA provincial president Saeed Khan and local leaders of different employees' organisations were also in attendance.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member Provincial Assembly Zarin Zia, Awami National Party district vice-president Humayun Khan and district councillors Shafqatullah Khan and Munawar Khan visited the camp and expressed solidarity with protesting employees. Zarin Zia assured she would take up the demands of employees' council with higher authorities of provincial government to resolve the issue.
