Four men accused of minor’s gang rape remanded
A court on Tuesday sent four men accused of gang-raping a 13-year-old girl on physical remand till January 27.
The remand was granted to police by the District West judicial magistrate. The case investigation officer produced four suspects – Osama Ali, Muzzamil, Amir Ali and Mohammad Umair – at yesterday’s hearing and told the judge that they were the prime suspects in the rape case.
The IO asked the judge for physical remand of the four accused to conduct interrogations. The court accepted the request and remanded the alleged rapists in police custody till Saturday. The gang rape of the minor girl was reported in the jurisdiction of the Saeedabad police station. The Sindh police chief had also taken notice of the heinous crime and ordered officials to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest.
Cop declared PO
An absconding policeman, Constable Mustafa, wanted in the murder case of a 14-year-old boy was declared a proclaimed offender on a court’s orders on Tuesday.
The order was issued by the District South judicial magistrate during the hearing of the murder case of a Grade VI student, Rehan, who was killed by police firing in Quaid-e-Awam Colony on November 13 last year.
The court decided to declare PC Mustafa a proclaimed offender after the case investigation officer reported repeated failure in locating and arresting the accused. The judge also directed the prosecution to provide copies of the case records to the other accused already under arrest; Constable Majid, informer Tahir alias Dabbu, Abdur Razzaq and Ikram Farooqui.
After Rehan, son of Fida Hussain Shah, was shot dead by the firing of policemen in Quaid-e-Awam Colony, the official version forwarded by the police was that the cops were there to arrest drug peddlers. FIR No 483/17 under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered on the complaint of Fida Hussain Shah against PC Majid and his informer Tahir.
ACLC cop’s bail extended
The interim bail period of Inspector Tariq Rahim, an ACLC cop named in the murder case of Intizar Ahmed, was extended till January 27. Rahim’s initial bail period expired yesterday and he approached the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) for an extension.
ACLC SHO Tariq Mehmood and seven other ACLC cops – Ghulam Abbas, Azhar Ahsan, Fawad Khan, Danial, Bilal, Shahid and Tariq Rahim – are being tried in the murder case of 19-year-old Intizar Ahmed, who was shot dead by them on Khayaban-e-Ittehad on January 14.
