TIMERGARA: The Senior School Teachers (SST) Association, Lower Dir chapter, on Monday staged protest rally against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not accepting their demand of upgradation.
The protesting teachers also threatened to stage a rally in Peshawar on January 26 and in front of the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala on February 4 if their demand was not met.
Hundreds of teachers marched on the roads in Timergara city while holding banners and placards and later gathered outside the Timergara Press Club.Leaders of teacher unions from various districts, including Syed Muhammad Shah, Wazir Muhammad, Shafiqur Rehman, Yousaf Khan, Bakht Bahadar, Liaq Zada and Shahid Mehmood, addressed the rally. They said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had promised them one-step promotion but the promise was not fulfilled even after three years.
