BAHAWALPUR: Maulvi Ishaq Lang, who was killed during an alleged police encounter in Karachi led by SSP Rao Anwar, was buried in his native village Basti Nazirabad, Mauza Lang Garwan, in the limits of Uch police on Sunday.
Ishaq was killed along with Naqeebullah Mehsud in a reportedly fake encounter with police. Sources and relatives of Ishaq told that he was lifted by the Karachi police about four months ago. They said that his dead body was brought here for burial from Karachi last night.
They said that no case was registered against Ishaq in Bahawalpur district and he was never declared a PO by Bahawalpur district police. However, they revealed, he was an activist of a banned outfit in the past.
The relatives of the deceased told that he was lifted by the Karachi Police twice during the last two years but later he was released. They said that he had a routine to go to Karachi and returned to his village as he was working there.
The relatives of Ishaq demandeda judicial inquiry into the police encounter. When The News contacted Bahawalpur DPO Mustansar Feroz, he said that no case was registered against Ishaq in any police station of Bahawalpur district.
