Islamabad: The minutes of Joint Expert Committee Meeting between Pakistan Railways and Iranian Railways were finalised at Ministry of Railways, here on Friday.
It was conjointly decided that a relief train and relief crane will be positioned at Dalbandin Station, Pakistan. The roster for passenger train between Pakistan and Iran is not decided yet. It will be mutually decided by DS Quetta and DG Zahidan Railways later.
If passenger train will be successful then, with consultation of tourism departments of both countries, an International Tourism Train can also be ran between major cities of Pakistan and Iran. As both countries have rich ethos. The up gradation of ML III will be taken as priority as it is going to be a busy track in near future. ML III consists of Rohri, Sukkar, Sibi, Spezand, Quetta, Noshki, Dalbandin and Taftan sections. The speed shall be increased at Quetta-Taftan section. At present due to deplorable condition of track the speed restriction is 40 kmph. By replacing the track it would be 120 kmph to 160 kmph, however, it requires a huge investment.
