IHC issues arrest warrants for alleged CDA front man in I-16 compensation case
Hearing in bail petition of former chairman of EOIBI adjourned till March 6

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) here Monday issued arrest warrants of a person, Sarwar Gondal, for allegedly receiving kickbacks from the afectees of Sector I-16 on account of compensations paid to them.
The petitioners have accused Sarwar Gondal, to be a front man of Capital Development Authority (CDA) the IHC bench directed CDA to submit a detailed report of the compensations paid to the affectees of Sector I-16.
The petitioners affectees of Sector I-16 adopted before the court that CDA paid compensation to them and later they took back half of the amount through their front man, Sarwar Gondal. Justice Siddiqui while hearing in this matter expressed resentment over a CDA representative, Nadeem Abro, and observed that the development authority has deputed touts for payments to the affectees. “These touts were playing havoc with the lives of affectees,” he further observed.
The proceeding in the case was then put of till March 16.
Separately in another matter, Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi of the IHC adjourned the hearing in bail application of former chairman, Employee’s Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) Zafar Gondal till March 06.
Zafar Gondal is the main accused in multi billion EOBI land scam. Legal counsel for Gondal, Farooq H Naek advocate submitted some additional documents before the court in Gondal’s bail application. Court directed Naek to provide copies of these additional documents to the federal government’s counsel.
Another accused in this case Rana Abdul Qayyum withdrew his bail application and consequently it was dismissed.
Advocate Naek here Monday told the court that he has submitted some additional documents in this case at which a standing counsel Jehangir Khan Jadoon representing federal government said that he has not received copies of these documents. Court then directed Naek to provide copies of these documents to federal government’s counsel and put of the hearing in the case till March 06.
