Transplant patient calls for help

Rawalpindi: A liver cancer patient, requiring liver transplant has appealed to the federal, government of Punjab, army chief, Malik Riaz and philanthropists to help her getting the treatment.

Patient wishing not to be named remained a primary school teacher at a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Noor Khan Airbase, Rawalpindi. Serving 32 years, now she is 61 and living a retired life while her husband is also a retired professor from a federal government college of Rawalpindi.

Both husband and wife depending on meagre amount of pension that is though sufficient for the household expenses but not enough to afford the liver transplant expenses that cost million of rupees. The couple is parent to three college going daughters and just unable to afford this costly treatment as there is no son in the family. Daughters also depending on the economic resources of their parents.

One of the daughters while talking to this correspondent told that they have done their most for the treatment of their mother but in December 2017, doctor advised her to get liver transplant. Doctors say that if the patient may not get a transplant, she may get expired in three to four months. Her liver is very much affected with cancer and there are apprehensions that it could spread in the whole body.
