Terrors of war
Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat triggered another war of words between India and Pakistan. The Indian army chief’s irresponsible statement about his army’s alacrity to call Pakistan’s nuclear bluff will hamper peace in the entire region. A nuclear war is no joke. The Indian army chief must remember the large-scale destruction caused when atomic bombs were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Both cities were razed to the ground.
The adverse impacts of these ill-conceived and malicious attacks are being felt to date. Instead of locking horns, both countries must restart constructive dialogue to find a peaceful solution to their long-standing issues. We strongly hope the sane elements on both sides of the divide will intervene to de-escalate the mounting tension.
