Two militants killed in drone strike near Pak-Afghan border

PARACHINAR: Two suspected militants were killed in the day’s second drone strike, this time in Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan Wednesday, Geo News reported citing sources.

The latest drone attack took place in Shanqilay area of Afghanistan near the Pak-Afghan border. Earlier Wednesday, one person was injured in a drone strike in Lower Kurram Agency, sources said. A missile fired from a drone landed outside a house in Badshah Kot area of the agency – one of the seven tribal agencies in Pakistan’s Fata. In December last year, two people were reported killed in a drone attack near Pak-Afghan border.

In November, three people were reported dead in a drone strike targeting a Taliban commander near the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram Agency. In October, 31 people were killed in three drone strikes targeting areas near the Pak-Afghan border over a span of 24 hours. At least 12 others were reported injured in the multiple drone attacks.

APP adds: Two policemen among three were injured in a blast Wednesday on Maal Road near Chaman area of Killa Abdullah district.

According to police sources, a time-device bomb was attached with electricity pylon which went off when a vehicle of Frontier Corps personnel was crossing the area on Maal Road. Two policemen named Rozi Khan, Allah Gul and one passerby Attaullah received injuries in the blast while police personnel were present on duty at the check post. FC men luckily escaped before the blast, the police sources added.

The injured were rushed to district headquarters hospital, where they were stated to be out of danger. Soon after the incident, Chaman DPO Javed Khan Gharshin, DC Qaisar Khan Nasir and FC officials reached the blast site. Law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started search to trace the culprits.
