IGP pledges to make capital police model of excellence
Islamabad: Inspector General of Police Islamabad Dr Sultan Azam Temuri Tuesday pledged that he was working on inculcating five core values in Islamabad Police to make it a model of excellence and role model for the country.
He was addressing the business community here at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Explaining the core values, he said Islamabad Police would be made service-oriented and people friendly police.
He said professionalism would be developed in police and equal application of law for all would be ensured. He said Islamabad Police would be made corruption free. He stressed that business community should resist corruption in police and help in identifying corrupt people so that police force could be purged of corrupt elements.
Highlighting other initiatives, he said Islamabad had total 22 police stations out of which seven police stations would be declared as model police stations in this month while gradually all police stations would be made model Thanas to provide better services to the people.
He said to bridge the gap between police and people, community policing was being developed and all segments of society including business community would be involved in community policing. He said reconciliation committees would be set up to settle out of court disputes and after thorough investigations, nominated people would be included in such committees.
He said business community would also be given representation in such committees. He said a Citizen Police Liaison Committee was also under consideration for Islamabad. In his welcome address, ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed lauded the initiatives of the IGP for improving the performance of Islamabad Police.
He said surveillance of security cameras should be further increased in all markets and industrial areas under Safe City Project and this project should be made more effective. He assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with Islamabad Police in its endeavors aimed at further improving law & order situation in the city.
