LAHORE
Three people including a woman were injured when a roof of a house collapsed in the Manawan police limits on Sunday. Two of the injured people were identified as Afzal and Kashif. The roof was in a dilapidated condition and collapsed. As a result, Afzal, his wife and his brother Kashif received injuries. Locals of the area shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
SEARCH OPERATION: Police checked 2,595 people under 55/109 in a search operation. All the divisional SPs led the search operation in their respective areas. DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said the search operation was launched in the wake of terrorism threats. An action was taken against 29 people.
SIX BOOKIES ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested six bookies and recovered laptops, telephone sets, LCDs, mobile phones, betting registers and cash. Muhammad Shahid, SHO, Millat Park police, raided a place and arrested five bookies and recovered 2 laptops, 1 telephone set, 1 recorder, 8 mobile phones and Rs 18,000 in cash. Mustansir Ahmad, SHO, Shafiqabad Police, arrested a bookie and recovered a mobile phone and Rs 1,000 in cash.
Youth killed: A 20-year-old man was crushed to death in Shera Kot police limits on Sunday. A case was registered against car driver Shahzad Farooq. The deceased was identified as Rizwan. The victim was going on his bike when he was hit to death on Band Road by car LEF-2232.
DIES ON ROAD: A 75-year-old man died in a collision of motor-bikes in Nawab Town Police limits. Police registered an FIR against Ghaffar. The deceased was identified as Sarwar, son of Nawab Din. The victim was riding his motorcycle. When he reached near Ayub Chowk, a bike collided with his bike. As result, he died.
Man injured in fire: A man received burns and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were burnt in different fire incidents on Sunday.
A fire broke out in a house in Sitara Colony due to short circuit and engulfed the house. A man in the house sustained burns. Rescue 1122 reached the scene and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital and extinguished the fire. In another incident, a fire broke out in a plastic factory in Shahdara and burnt valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. Meanwhile, a fire broke out in a shop near AG Office, Old Anarkali. Valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees were gutted.
