TIMERGARA: The inauguration of Sanam Dam in Lower Dir was postponed due to technical issues, sources said on Monday.
The sources said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was to inaugurate the Sanam Dam project at Asbanr today (Tuesday). Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram told reporters that the chief minister visit had been postponed due to demarcation issue on the site.
The residents and the Adenzai Qaumi Jirga had expressed anger over the postponement of the visit.
They said that all arrangements were finalised for the CM’s visit. “The stage was set up and seating arrangement was made for over 2000 people at the venue,” said a local.
The residents said they were expecting the chief minister to announce mega development projects in the area.
Meanwhile, advocate Salim Khan was elected as chairperson and Qazi Hussain Ahmad as vice-chairperson of the district public safety commission Lower Dir for the next two years.
The announcement was made after a meeting of the commission with its secretary Roidar Ali in the chair.
