MC workers’ strike deprive citizens of potable water
TOBA TEK SINGH: Strike of municipal committee employees and the internal disputes of MC have deprived the citizens of potable water. Citizens have demanded the deputy commissioner and the MC chairman to resolve the dispute between the MC employees and the chief officer. They also demanded taking steps to end the strike of employees. “We are facing acute shortage of drinking water due to the MC workers’ strike for the last four days,” they complained. It is pertinent to mention that the employees were demanding transfer of chief officer who according to them allegedly mibehaved and insulted them. On the other hand, chief officer Ihsanullah Qamar said that allegations levelled against him by the employees were baseless. He said whenever he directed them to redress the public complaints, they started unjustified protest.
