BRISBANE: Pakistani players on Friday turned to Australia’s oldest mosque in a bid to revive their fading World Cup fortunes.
The national team decided to cut its training session short here at the Gabba to offer Friday prayers at the central mosque in the Holland Park area of Brisbane.
The mosque at Holland Park is regarded as the oldest mosque in Australia. Last year it was dubbed as the mosque of peace by local newspapers following a series of sermons promoting peace and harmony by local Muslim religious leaders.
To offer Friday prayers at the mosque, the national team players left the stadium ahead of their schedule.
